I would like to make use of solar energy by getting solar charger to charge all the appliances like laptop, mobile phones, other bigger appliances. But the only portable chargers I see on the market are only suitable for mobile phones and smaller devices.
But what if I want to use the charger to charge something like power drill or hoover – is there a device on the market that can do this, stil staying portable?
Maybe there is some battery that you can charge from the solar power and use it later when it accumulate sufficient amout of energy?
Thanks!

Yes, there are lots of Solar products on eBay that do exactly what you are looking for. Myself I’m going to be replacing my water heater w/a solar one this Fall.
Do you have a local University? Almost every University has a department with a section dedicated to solar energy, they are an incredible resource for find ing info on more products, who makes em, and where you can get em!
Good luck!

preferably find a local supplier who can assess your requirements. Definitly recomend a visit to CAT if you are in UK
there are whole ranges of devices available and may ways of using them, eg to top up 12V car batteries, then use a car adapter (lighter socket) to run your appliance
I know of some friends that got a solar charger for there lap tops from the link below. Nice and portable.

sun make solar
It’s possible, but a powerdrill requires a lot of energy. That means you either need a big solar panel or you must wait a long time (smaller panel).
There are 12V solar panes for about $20-$30. These will work, if your drill can be charged at 12V. They’ll take a few days to fill it up, though!
check ebay or other shopping sites first then stores…then check bizrate.com to compare prices. you can also make your own solar power genereator (for apparently under $300): http://www.rain.org/~philfear/how2solar.html. Try also this site: http://www.oksolar.com/battery_chargers/portable_solar_Chargers.htm. Hope all these search sites help you out.

If you live in a windy area, build a windmill.
You need deep cycle batteries for this kind of use. And you will need to convert the power from dc to ac. If you are really serious about this endeavor, have a healthy bank account (deep cell batteries and solar panels are expensive), and live somewhere that is sunny much more often than not, then you can definitely find someone with experience in solar power to give you expert advice. I don’t believe that power drills or vacuum cleaners or other substantial equipment can be powered by portable solar equipment.
